Now on sale! Promotional activities of the much anticipated "Toshima's Ashitaba Tsubaki Oil Sauce."

A sauce made from the Japanese herb ashitaba and tsubaki (camellia) oil, which we began developing in 2020, has finally launched.

The island decided to name the product "Toshima's Ashitaba Tsubaki Oil Sauce." This name was chosen as it tells the consumer that it is produced in Toshima, and what the ingredients are. The name does not specify how it should be used, as it is a versatile sauce.

We first launched the product on January 23, 2022, at the Aoyama Farmers Market which was held in Aoyama, Tokyo. Out of various products sold at the Toshima booth, "Toshima's Ashitaba Tsubaki Oil Sauce" was one of the most successful. By the early afternoon, we had sold the entire stock of 100 jars.

We also held a talk at an online event to expand our reach.

On February 4th, 2022, we joined "TOKYO ISLANDS MEETING," an online event held by Hajimari Shotengai. We promoted the sauce by sharing the story behind its development. It was encouraging to directly receive positive comments from people who had tasted the sauce.

On February 19th, we were able to communicate with people more interactively through an online tour experience. In this event, the participants received the sauce as well as an optional bottle of Sakuyuri, a shochu made in Toshima. We enjoyed communicating with the participants through fun quizzes and other interactions.

Furthermore, from March 7th - 11th, we held "Toshima Week - Learn, Eat and Get Beautifully Healthy" at Sustaina Station DaiDai in Tokyo's Yurakucho. On the final day, we held a special event with the theme of becoming beautifully healthy through foods from Toshima. We connected the venue and Toshima virtually while serving dishes using the sauce. When slides about the island were presented from Toshima, participants asked a variety of questions, creating a lively atmosphere.

Currently, the sauce can be purchased nationwide through the JA Toshima online store and Shimapochi.

Creating the product was not an easy journey, but we were able to make a delicious sauce that we can promote confidently. We will work to create a system so that people from within and outside the island will continue to buy the product, as well as work on expanding the product range.
