A variety of spectacular photos from the hashtag campaign #7iro8jo

Hachijojima's Instagram account "Illustrated Guide to the Seven Colors of Hachijo" (@7iro8jo) displays the people of Hachijojima and their lifestyles. Wanting to gain more followers and make connections with new Hachijojima fans, we launched a #7iro8jo photo submission hashtag campaign, which ran from November 18, 2021 to January 31, 2022.

The theme of the campaign was "Hachijojima, my number one". Users who followed Illustrated Guide to the Seven Colors of Hachijo on Instagram and posted photographs of what they like best about Hachijojima using the hashtag #7iro8jo would be entered into a draw to win prizes including Hachijojima hotel vouchers and gift sets.

Apart from promoting the campaign on the @7iro8jo Instagram account, we also made a post encouraging people, particularly members of Tokyo Treasure Islands, to share flyers and posters.

The campaign resulted in a wide selection of spectacular pictures, covering such themes as scenery, nature, food, experiences, culture and encounters with Hachijojima residents. Please look at our dedicated site where some of the submitted photos are published:

We would also now like to share some of the pictures submitted during this campaign here!

This user said they adore Hachijojima. This vibrant photo shows Hachijo Fuji and the color of the sky reflected in a nearby pond.

This was posted by somebody who visited Hachijojima with their family, to see their son who lives here. We can see them having a good time together on Hachijojima, against the striking backdrop of the sea and sky.

Looking at the photos submitted during the hashtag campaign, we could see that many showed not only beautiful views and tourist hotspots, but also relaxed daily life on the island and interactions between visitors and residents. This proved to us again that ordinary life on Hachijojima is part of the island's appeal. In the future, we want to post more scenes of island life on Instagram to gain more fans of Hachijojima and maintain our bonds with them.
