The Instagram account "Illustrated Guide to the Seven Colors of Hachijo" was launched! A related photo book is also in the making

The official Instagram account, Illustrated Guide to the Seven Colors of Hachijo (https://www.instagram.com/7iro8jo/), was launched in early February to present the residents of Hachijojima and to create a system to communicate the island's charms and encourage people to visit the island. The name of the Instagram account, 7iro8jo (seven colors of Hachijo), is derived from the concept for Hachijojima within the Tokyo Treasure Islands Project: "Seven Colors of Hachijo: A rainbow-colored island where you can restore your colors."

On this Instagram account, posts will be made twice a week to introduce 35 islanders. Word of mouth from islanders and other efforts to spread the account will lead to increasing number of followers in the future.

In order to further increase the number of Hachijojima fans far and wide, a photo book linked with the Instagram account called Seven Colors of Hachijo Photo Book is simultaneously in the making. Unlike the previous photo book linked to restaurants in Tokyo, this one will introduce the 35 islanders as well as the colorful sceneries of Hachijojima. The photo book is planned to be completed in March.

In order to create opportunities for encounters with Hachijojima outside of the island, photo books will be installed at locations associated with the 35 islanders who are featured in the book, including restaurants, beauty salons, and outdoor stores outside of the island. The book will be used to communicate with customers and to introduce them to the island. It is hoped that this will lead to encounters with the island that will make people want to visit and tour the island and establish new relationships with the islanders.

The Instagram account Illustrated Guide to the Seven Colors of Hachijo is like a guide for a tour in Hachijojima, where visitors to the island can restore their own identities and their own colors by coming into contact with the people and nature that enliven the island. For the future, it is planned to introduce more people active in various fields on the island, particularly involving the younger generation in their 20s and 30s, to expand the circle of the project's friends on the island. There are also plans to create tools to promote tours around the island in conjunction with Instagram.
This kind of guidance will lead to continuous interaction between islanders and fans of Hachijojima, with visitors coming back to the island repeatedly to see the islanders.
