Hachijojima's original photo book that creates new encounters

Members of Hachijojima's meeting are collaborating with restaurants in Tokyo to create a photo book featuring the ingredients and their producers that the island is proud of, as well as scenes of the island changing with the seasons.

The first photo book for FY2019 was created with a restaurant in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo. The chef-owner now shows the book to the restaurant's guests and talks about the charms of Hachijojima. This has already motivated about 30 people to visit the island. The cheese producers featured in the photo book are also experiencing new interactions, with some visitors becoming enthusiastic fans who come back year after year.

New photo books are being produced in FY2020.
The first is a photo book to be placed in restaurants in Tokyo that use ingredients from the island. The book will show the seasonal changes in Hachijojima and introduce the dishes that use ingredients from the island served at the restaurants.

The second photo book is being produced with the owner of a café on Hachijojima that has been involved in mobile catering.
The mobile catering by the owner and his wife has become popular among the people on the island and has brought many smiles to their faces. Some of the customers of the café in Kamakura have come all the way to the island after learning about the mobile catering activities on Hachijojima.

Hachijojima values connecting people with each other through the encounters that the photo books bring about. The photo books that are currently being produced are akin to "letters from the island" addressed to those who have never been to the island before. They will hopefully help restaurant owners and their customers, who are fans of the restaurants, talk about Hachijojima, and inspire them to one day prepare for a trip to Hachijojima.
