An Event Introducing the Website Aogamiray, Connecting the Future of Aogashima

Aogamiray (https://www.aogamiray.com/) is a website focusing on the people of Aogashima, Japan's smallest village in terms of population. This project was created to connect people of Aogashima with people outside of Aogashima who love the island and want to interact with the locals. An event held on October 18th, 2022 revealed the website to many people on and off the island.

The event consisted mostly of project advisors and Aogamiray members in an online talk, which included discussions about web media and introductions of examples from other regions that Aogashima could emulate. The future prospects of the website were also a hot topic.

The advisors and team members wanted participants to know that the most charming thing about the island is the people that live on it and that the individuality and the strong will the islanders display are great topics to focus a spotlight on.

There were seven people from the island and another 33 people online participating in the event. Thinking about how there's only 170 people living there, this is a pretty good turnout. The participants had fun exchanging ideas for future articles and talking about stories that are typical in Aogashima but unique in places outside of the island.

Participants ranged from those who have lived on the island for a long time to those who moved there, and those who studied on the island in the past. This allowed for various viewpoints of what makes the island a good place.

Many of the participants did not know about the Aogamiray website before joining the event. However, many stated their interest in the site piqued. They said they would also like to help out with covering stories about the island. The website will be the go-to place for information about the island going forward.
